DENVER - Five members of the Colorado Mammoth were among the 23 players chosen for the Canadian national team's entry into the 2007 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship. Forwards Dan Carey and Gavin Prout, transition player Nenad Gajic, defenseman John Gallant, and goaltender Gee Nash were named to the list of elite National Lacrosse League players representing Team Canada.
The WILC will take place from May 14-20 at the Halifax Metro Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Teams representing Australia, Czech Republic, England, Ireland, Iroquois Nation, Scotland and the United States will join Canada in competing for the championship.
Mammoth coach Gary Gait will coach Team Canada as it tries to defend the gold medal it won at 2003 championship, and Mammoth general manager Steve Govett, who is serving in the same role for Team Canada, said he is excited about the group that's been assembled.
"It's a very talented and athletic team," Govett said. "All of these guys are leaders on their NLL teams and I think we'll see them play a very exciting and well-rounded brand of lacrosse in Halifax."
