T-Bones Trade Garceau to Long Island
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones announced they have traded pitcher Shaun Garceau to the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League in exchange for future considerations.
Garceau, 26, went 6-9 with a 4.30 ERA, 93 strikeouts and 33 walks in 23 games (133 2/3 innings) with Kansas City in 2013. With two games remaining in Kansas City's 2013 season, the T-Bones traded Garceau to Long Island. (The Atlantic League's regular season lasted two weeks longer.) Garceau went 2-1 with a 1.17 ERA during the regular season with Long Island, plus 1-0 with 11 strikeouts and only one walk in two playoff appearances as the Ducks won the Atlantic League championship.
"We were looking forward to having Shaun as part of our rotation this year, but in recent weeks he told us that, at this stage of his career, as much as he loved the Kansas City fans and his time here, he wanted to be closer to his fiancé," said T-Bones manager John Massarelli. "This move helps him do that. We wish him nothing but the best."
Garceau, whom the T-Bones re-acquired from Long Island in October, started 16 games for Kansas City in 2012. He went 9-6 with a 3.47 ERA, 75 strikeouts and 27 walks in 106 1/3 innings. Garceau, who has pitched for York of the Atlantic League, reached double-A with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2010.
The T-Bones open the 2014 regular season at home on May 15 against Lincoln. For additional information or interview requests, members of the media may contact the T-Bones Media Relations Department at 913-328-5639.
