January 24, 2018 - United States Hockey League (USHL) - Tri-City Storm News Release

Overall: 21-8-1-1- Home: 11-4-1-0 Away: 10-4-0-1

Tri-City has now matched last season's win total (21) in just 31 games complete of the 60 game regular season schedule.

Tri-City is 1st place in the USHL standings with 44 points on the season. The Storm are 1 point ahead of 2nd place Fargo, but have 3 games in hand on the Force.

Tri-City is the only USHL team with over a 70% winning percentage this season (.710)

Tri-City has gotten points in the standings in 8 of the last 10 games (6-2-1-1)

The Storm penalty kill remains the best in the USHL with an (87.6%) success rate on the year

Tri-City is the only team in the USHL currently allowing less than 2 goals scored per game (1.90)

Individual Notes: Head Coach Anthony Noreen has won 21 of 31 games in his 1st season with Tri-City

Head Coach Anthony Noreen swept the Youngstown Phantoms in his return to Youngstown this weekend, after Coaching the Phantoms for 4 seasons before leaving for Orlando (ECHL).

Defenseman Ronnie Attard scored an empty net (shorthanded) goal on Friday night, to extend his lead as the Top Scoring Defenseman in the USHL this season. Attard has 7 goals on the season.

Defenseman Ronnie Attard's shorthanded goal on Friday night was only the 2nd shorthanded goal scored by Tri-City this season, and the 1st scored on the road.

Goalie Filip Larsson continues to lead the USHL in Goals Against Average (1.46 GAA), Save Percentage (0.946), and Shutouts (5). Larsson has not played for the Storm since December 8th.

Goalie Jake Barczewski has started the last 11 games in net for Tri-City and has an overall record of (7-4-1-1) this season. He is 7th in the USHL in GAA (2.25). He stopped 40 of 42 shots this weekend and won both games for the Storm in Youngstown.

Froward Tyler Madden is currently 3rd among USHL rookies in scoring this season with 11 goals on the year. Madden leads all rookies in shots on goal (83).

Defenseman Bryan Yoon leads all Storm defenseman with 17 points on the season. He is currently Top 10 in the USHL in scoring by a Defenseman.

Also, defenseman Hugo Blixt is Top 10 in USHL scoring by a defenseman with 16 points on the season.

Forward Sam Hentges was the #1 Star for Tri-City in Saturday night's 2-1 OT win over Youngstown. Hentges scored the game tying goal in the 2nd period and the game winning goal for the Storm in Overtime.

Other Notes: Forward Tyler Madden was ranked as the 49th best North American Skater yesterday by NHL Central Scouting in the services annual midterm rankings. Madden was the only Storm player making the list. The ranking indicates that Madden is very likely to be selected in one of the first four rounds at this year's NHL Draft in Dallas, TX. After continuing to lead the Storm in scoring, and after his 1st Star and MVP performance at the 2018 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Kearney, Madden's draft stock has risen considerably since the last NHL Central Scouting Ranking.

Tri-City will play three games this weekend, the first time this season playing 3 games in one weekend. Friday and Saturday are home against Central Illinois, Sunday is away vs. Omaha.
