Tri-City Storm News Release
Cranberry Township, PA. - The Tri-City Storm begin regular season play tonight at the 2019 DICK'S Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic in a matchup against the Waterloo Black Hawks. The Storm will play another game tomorrow against the Youngstown Phantoms before returning home on October 4th for its 20th Anniversary Season Home Opener against the Omaha Lancers. Today's game against Waterloo is scheduled to begin at 4:00pm.
For the second consecutive season, all USHL member clubs will play 62 games in the regular season, beginning with two games being played at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. The event is held over the next four days with each USHL team playing two games. Roughly 400 professional and college hockey scouts are expected to be in attendance. Every player on the Storm's 2018-2019 Anderson Cup Championship roster announced a college commitment prior to the season's end. Five of those players were selected at the 2019 NHL Draft in June.
Tri-City (0-0) looks to build off a successful 5-1 record in the preseason in today's game against the Black Hawks. Last season, the Storm swept Waterloo with four wins in the regular season. Tri-City also compiled a perfect record at last season's Fall Classic, with wins over Youngstown and Madison. The Storm and the Black Hawks will meet again in Tri-City's 5th game of the season on October 12th at Young Arena in Waterloo, IA. This year's Storm roster features players from four countries, twelve states, and includes twenty-three players who are currently committed to NCAA Division I programs.
Waterloo (0-0) begins regular season play today against the Storm, and is seeking its first win against the team since February 3rd, 2018. The Black Hawks will battle the Fargo Force tomorrow night in its final game of the weekend. Though listed as the home team in today's neutral site matchup, the Black Hawks will not play a true home game at Young Arena until Saturday, October 12th. Waterloo finished the preseason with a record of 1-3-0-1.
Tonight's game is set to begin at 4:00pm CT, and will be streamed live on HockeyTV, and Storm Radio. To purchase tickets to Storm home games at the Viaero Center, visit www.StormHockey.com or call 308-338-8144. #SeekShelter
