Storm Host Lancers in Rivalry Matchup at Viaero Center

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm return home to the Viaero Center after sweeping the Madison Capitols in back to back road games last weekend at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton, WI. The Storm return home to the Viaero Center tonight for the first time since hosting the Omaha Lancers on Sunday, January 26th. Tonight's game is the Storm's annual "Taste of Nebraska" promotion featuring local businesses. Tonight's game is also a $5 Kids Friday at the Viaero Center. Tickets are still available for tonight's matchup between the Storm and the Lancers and can be purchased by visiting www.StormHockey.com or by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144. Puck drop for tonight's Nebraska Lottery rivalry matchup is scheduled for 7:05pm.

Tri-City (22-15-3-2) returns home to the Viaero Center tonight after sweeping the Madison Capitols last weekend on the road. Tri-City outscored Madison by a combined score of 10-2 and outshot the Capitols by a combined margin of 94-43 in the two games played. On Sunday, Tri-City shutout Madison 5-0 to post its first shutout of an opponent in the 2019-2020 regular season. Todd Scott posted his first career USHL shutout in Sunday's win after stopping all twenty-five Capitols shots on goal. In the previous game, Adam Klapka netted his first two career goals in his debut with the Storm. Ryan Ouellette recorded his first career USHL win in net for the Storm in Saturday's game after stopping sixteen of Madison's eighteen shots on goal. Goal scorers this past weekend for the Storm included Colby Ambrosio (2), Adam Klapka (2), Nick Capone (2), Mike Koster (1), Mitchell Miller (1), Joey Cipollone (1), Nick Portz (1). Earlier this week, Mitchell Miller was named the USHL's Defenseman of the Week for the third time this season and for the third time in his USHL career.

Omaha (23-12-6-1) travels to Kearney this weekend for back to back road games against the Storm as the hottest team in the USHL. The Lancers have won seven consecutive games in a row and have only lost one game in regulation time in the past ten games. Omaha's last loss came on Sunday, January 26th at the Viaero Center to the Tri-City Storm by a final score of 5-2. During its most recent winning streak, the Lancers have risen to 2nd place in the USHL's Western Conference standings. The Lancers trail conference leading Waterloo by seven points, and the team currently holds a four-point lead over third place Tri-City. Tonight's game will feature the reigning USHL Defenseman of the Week and the reigning USHL Goaltender of the Week. Omaha's Kyle McLellan won the Goaltender of the Week award for the third time this season earlier this week. McLellan made sixty-two saves on sixty-three shots in Omaha's road sweep of the Fargo Force last weekend at Scheels Arena in Fargo, ND.
