Storm Club Four Homers to Win

Visalia Rawhide News Release

VISALIA, CA - The Lake Elsinore Storm hit 4 home runs and silenced the Rawhide bats to cruise to an 8-4 win and even up the three-game series.

Lake Elsinore (2-4) led from the onset, when Brad Zunica hit a two-run shot off of Sam McWilliams, and never looked back. Edward Olivares added a two-run homer off of Randall Delgado in the sixth inning and Eguy Rosario clubbed a pair of round trippers of his own to headline the Storm offense.

Visalia (3-3) received a pair of home runs of their own, one each from Ramon Hernandez and Drew Ellis, but the round-trippers were the only hits that the club could muster. Ramon Hernandez hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Drew Ellis added a solo shot into the Rawhide bullpen in the seventh.

Storm starter Emmanuel Ramirez was the primary obstacle for the Rawhide, who showed composure on the mound and settled into a rhythm after Hernandez's first inning home run. Ramirez hit Dominic Miroglio with a  pitch in the second inning and, after that, set down he next 14 hitters in a row until Ellis homered in the seventh.

Ramirez (W, 1-0) was also helped by diving catches by Buddy Reed and Edward Olivares in the outfield. Ramirez lasted through the seventh inning and allowed three runs on two hits while striking out five.

Sam McWilliams never settled into a rhythm, but did grind his way through five innings by weaving in and out of traffic on the bases. McWilliams (L, 1-1) kept the Storm off the board after their three-run first and stranded an additional four runners on base.

Randall Delgado allowed a pair of home runs in a rehab stint from the bullpen in the sixth inning and Miguel Aguilar gave up two runs in the eighth.

Mark Karaviotis added a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to cap the Rawhide scoring.

The Rawhide conclude the three-game series with the Storm tomorrow afternoon, matching up RHP Bo Takahashi (0-0, 1.80) against RHP Luke Bachar (1-0, 0.00). First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM and tickets are still available on rawhidebaseball.com.
