Stockton, Calif. - Today, the Stockton Kings, the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, announced they have been awarded the NBA G League Social Responsibility Award for their "Fit Kids" program, in partnership with Kaiser Permanente. The award, determined by a committee of team and league executives, recognizes three teams who have demonstrated excellence in business and social responsibility.
"The Stockton Kings are honored to be recognized for our work, in partnership with Kaiser Permanente, to bring important resources to our community," said Stockton Kings Vice President of Business Operations Aaron Morales. "We are proud that the Fit Kids program continues to provide local elementary students with tools to create healthy habits and maintain an active lifestyle."
"Kaiser Permanente is proud to join with the Stockton Kings to improve the health and well-being of our community, and we appreciate the recognition of our collaborative efforts," said Kaiser Permanente Central Valley Senior Vice President and Area Manager Aphriekah DuHaney-West. "It's critical for our kids to stay active and eat nutritious food so they can have the best opportunity to lead healthy lives."
The "Fit Kids" program aims to promote health and wellness at elementary schools within the Stockton Unified School District. Through the program, students in grades 3rd through 5th learned about nutrition, hydration, movement and mindfulness by completing various daily activities related to the weekly topics in a workbook. The program recently completed its second year, expanding to six elementary schools and reaching more than 2,000 students.
The Long Island Nets and Fort Wayne Mad Ants were also selected for the honor alongside the Stockton Kings.
