
Stewart Named IL Pitcher of the Week

(Fort Mill, SC) - Charlotte right-hander Zach Stewart, who closed out the final game in Knights Stadium history with eight shutout innings on September 2, was named the International League's Pitcher of the Week, as announced earlier today by the International League.
Stewart, 26, struck out three batters and allowed one walk over eight scoreless innings as the Knights beat the Gwinnett Braves 4-0 in front of 6,894 fans for the final game in the 24-year history of Knights Stadium.
It was a solid week on the mound for Stewart, who did not allow an earned run over 16.0 scoreless innings (two starts) over the week. He gave up four unearned runs over eight innings on Wednesday, August 28 at Knights Stadium against the Norfolk Tides.
For the season, Stewart finished with a 6-14 record and a 4.25 ERA. He led the IL in innings pitched with 167.1 and finished fourth in strikeouts with 122.
Former Knights infielder Eduardo Escobar was named the International League Batter of the Week. Escobar hit .400 (12-for-30) with seven runs scored, five doubles, three home runs, and nine RBIs. Escobar appeared in 137 games for the Knights in 2011.
