Steel Drop Final Home Game to Wilderness
(Chippewa Falls, WI)- The Steel played their final home game of the season tonight against the Minnesota Wilderness for Billet Family Night.
The Steel lit the lamp first on a goal from Jordan Cormier when he shot a puck from below the goal circle past Wilderness goaltender Zacharewicz to give them an early lead. The lead would not last long as Minnesota would pump in four unanswered goals shortly after.
In the second the Steel took some momentum back with a goal by Evan Tanos, who was fed a pass from Liam Hansson in the slot and buried it far side to cut the lead to two. Steel's defense took care of the rest keeping the Wilderness out of their zone and the puck out of their net for the rest of the period. In other action, Spencer Oyler would have Will Traeger down on the ice when they dropped the gloves late in the second period.
The third period was action packed with another brawl when Ryan Waltman got the best of Bobby Metz sending him to the locker room for the remainder of the game. Though the Wilderness kept their foot on the offensive gas pedal scoring twice more in the third beating the Steel with a score of 6-2. Final shots in favor of the home team 32-27.
The Steel will finish their season on Sunday against the Janesville Jets.
