Statement from Craig Reynolds on Passing of Dick Rendek and Keith Critchley

March 6, 2020 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are saddened to learn of the recent passing of two of the Club's past presidents, Dick Rendek (President from 1982 to1984) and Keith Critchley (President from 1985 to1986) in the last week.

As we head into our 110th Anniversary Season, we reflect on our history and the many influential leaders who have helped us get to where we are today. Dick Rendek and Keith Critchley, along with Gord Staseson who passed away last October, made significant contributions to the Club that we will be forever grateful for.

Dick Rendek remained a Rider faithful past his presidency, becoming Chair of the Grey Cup organizing committee in 1995. As the Chair, he was responsible for bringing the Grey Cup to Saskatchewan for the first time in CFL history. Keith Critchley saw the team through difficult times financially and through challenging seasons on the field. Keith remained on the Club's Management Committee and was rewarded for his leadership through some trying years with a Grey Cup ring in 1989. Gord Staseson made his mark in Rider history, seeing the Club through the expansion of historic Mosaic Stadium and with the creation of the Plaza of Honour.

We would not be as strong as an organization as we are today without the contributions of these three men and we are honoured to have them as a part of our history. All of Rider Nation mourns the loss of these three community leaders and send our deepest condolences to their families.
