Stars Slip 2-1 in Overtime to Waterloo in Game 3

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (3-2-1) forced the extra period but fell 2-1 in overtime to the Waterloo Black Hawks (2-1-0) on Wednesday night at the Ice Box for Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

The Black Hawks scored early at 1:36 of the first period with a shot from forward Jack Drury to take an initial 1-0 lead. However, in the second period, Stars forward Paul Cotter swatted a shot in front of the net by the netminder at 9:05 on the power play to tie the game, 1-1.

After a scoreless third period, the Black Hawks picked up the game-winning goal at 3:00 on a break with forward Jackson Cates, taking the 2-1 win and Game 3. Black Hawks goaltender Jared Moe (2-0-0) saved 27 of 28 shots in the win, while Stars netminder TomᚠVomá?ka (0-1-1) halted 38 of 40 shots in the overtime loss.
