LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (15-18-0-1) surpassed their season-high goal total with a 7-1 win over the Sioux City Musketeers (15-14-4-2) on Tuesday night at the Ice Box.

Musketeers forward Cole Koepke started the scoring for the road side at 0:30 to take an early 1-0 lead before the Stars responded with three-unanswered in the frame. The Stars notched two power play goals starting at 10:26 from a slap shot in the left circle by forward Casey Dornbach to tie the game, 1-1. Stars forward Austen Long followed that up with a tally on a rebound off the left post at 16:10 to take a 2-1 lead. Stars forward Zach Dubinsky benefitted from crashing the net with his first USHL goal at 17:02, doubling the lead at 3-1.

The Stars added four more goals in the third period beginning with a shorthanded goal from forward Dominick Mersch at 5:37 to quadruple the lead, 4-1. Stars defenseman Carter Long scored from the right circle at 13:55 after a puck exchange to add to the lead, 5-1. Stars forward Ashton Calder forced the puck across the goal line at 16:04 on the power play after a scrum, then forward Tristan Ashbrook sniped a shot from the right circle at 18:59 to seal the victory, 7-1.

Stars goaltender Tomáœ=A1 Vomá=C4=8Dka (9-14-0) stopped 17 of 18 shots in the win. Musketeers netminder Matt Jurusik (14-11-4) halted 14 of 17 shots in the loss, while Ben Kraws saved 18 of 22 shots in 40 minutes of relief. The Stars begin February with a road meeting against Team USA on Friday, Feb. 2 at 6:05 p.m. CST from USA Hockey Arena. Coverage is available on 93.7 The Ticket, Hockey TV and Lincoln Stars Radio.

The Stars return to the Ice Box on Friday, Feb. 16 at 7:35 p.m. against the Omaha Lancers.
