Johannes scores first USHL goal, Terinen tallies on the power play
LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (11-10-0-0) came up short in a 3-2 decision in favor of the Tri-City Storm (17-6-0-0) on Thursday night at the Ice Box.
The Storm jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a power play goal at 2:05 from defenseman Ronnie Attard before the Stars answered right back on the man-advantage. At 2:34, Stars defenseman Eero Terinen lofted a shot from the blue line through traffic to level the score, 1-1. Stars forward Hunter Johannes scored his first USHL goal at 7:54 through the legs of the netminder to take a 2-1 lead before the Storm tied the game, 2-2, on the power play at 16:27 from forward Tyler Ward.
At the end of a nearly scoreless second period, Storm forward Tyler Madden stashed in the go-ahead goal at 19:29 to take a 3-2 lead. Both sides kept a close game into the third period, however the Storm were able to hang on for the one-goal win.
Storm goaltender Jake Barczewski (3-2-0) earned the win, halting 32 of 34 shots, while Stars netminder Tomá Vomáka (7-8-0) picked up the loss, stopping 22 of 25 shots. The Stars continue their three-in-three on the road against the Waterloo Black Hawks on Friday, Dec. 29 at 7:05 p.m. from Young Arena.
