Stars Fall to the Flying Aces

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Lincoln Stars (14-16-0-1) slipped behind and fell 4-1 to the Central Illinois Flying Aces (11-18-1-3) on Monday morning at Grossinger Motors Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Stars forward Collin Peters led the scoring for the second-straight day with a shot from the high slot at 0:25 of the second period to jump out to a 1-0 lead. The Flying Aces came back with two tallies in the frame from forward Cameron Burke at 2:30 on the power play and forward Michael Maloney at 7:38 shorthanded to take a 2-1 lead.

The Flying Aces continued at 4:38 of the third period with a goal from forward Wojciech Stachowiak to take a 3-1 lead. With the goaltender pulled, Flying Aces forward Griffin Lunn sealed the game at 18:48 for the 4-1 Central Illinois win.

Flying Aces goaltender Ryan Snowden (4-8-2) halted 29 of 30 shots in the win, while Stars netminder Derek Schaedig (6-3-1) stopped 31 of 34 shots in the loss. The Stars continue their rivalry with the Omaha Lancers on Friday, Jan. 26 at 7:05 p.m. from Ralston Arena. The Stars return to the Ice Box on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 7:05 p.m. to host the Omaha Lancers on KFC Family Night. Season tickets for the 2017-2018 season are now available by calling 402-474-7827.
