Stars Fall in Game 2 to Waterloo, 3-0
WATERLOO, Iowa - The Lincoln Stars (3-1-0) saw the series level off at 1-1 during a 3-0 loss to the Waterloo Black Hawks (0-0-1) on Sunday night from Young Arena in Game 2 of the 2018 Western Conference Semifinals.
For the first time in the series, a team capitalized in the first period coming from Black Hawks forward Garrett Klee at 11:47 to jump ahead 1-0. In the second period, an early tally by Black Hawks forward Bobby Trivigno at 2:52 doubled the lead, 2-0.
The Stars pressed in the third period, but a goal from Black Hawks forward Garrett Wait at 14:58 put the game out of reach, and the Stars fell 3-0. Black Hawks goaltender Jared Moe (1-0-0) stopped all 21 shots in the win, while Stars netminder Derek Schaedig (3-1-0) halted 26 of 29 shots in the loss.
