Southern League and CSS renew television partnership

MARIETTA, GA – The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs and Comcast Sports Southeast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) have renewed their broadcast agreement for a Southern League Game of the Week package to air 10 Southern League baseball games during the 2005 season.

"I'm very happy that we will be continuing our partnership with CSS this upcoming season," Southern League President Don Mincher said. "They are a great partner and our presence on their network allows us to showcase the league's tremendously talented players to our fans throughout the Southeast."

CSS will air Southern League games to 4.5 million homes in 11 states throughout the Southeast, allowing for a regional broadcast that fits directly into the footprint of the Southern League.

"We are pleased to have renewed our agreement with the Southern League and are looking forward to bringing the tradition and excitement of Southern League baseball into the homes of our viewers throughout the Southeast," said Mark Fuhrman, General Manager of CSS. "The Southern League Game of the Week is live summer programming exclusively available on CSS."

The broadcasts will begin June 11 when the Carolina Mudcats visit the Jacksonville Suns and will wrap up August 13 when the Montgomery Biscuits play the Mobile BayBears. All games will air on Saturday evenings, except for the Southern League All-Star Game, which will air Wednesday, July 13 from Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile, AL. CSS is a 24-hour regional sports network serving approximately 4.5 million cable subscribers across 11 southeastern states. Launched in 1999, the network is a partnership between Comcast Corporation and Charter Communications and provides a comprehensive mix of live sports programming, sports news and in-depth sports analysis exclusively geared towards fans in the Southeast. CSS is only available on cable.
