Sounders FC and Sports Radio 950 KJR AM to Deliver "Players Only" Broadcast this Sunday

SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC today announced a unique opportunity for fans of the Rave Green looking to tune into this Sunday's match. As the team plays host to expansion side Austin FC in a nationally televised match on FS1 (6:30 p.m. PT / 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM), those unable to attend in person can take advantage of a special edition "Players Only" radio broadcast on Sports Radio 950 KJR AM, featuring former Sounders Kasey Keller, Steve Zakuani and Brad Evans.

With usual play-by-play man Keith Costigan tabbed to serve in that role for FOX Sports on the game's national telecast, Sounders FC and radio partner iHeartMedia Seattle alongside flagship station 950 KJR AM have developed a plan to provide listeners with an exclusive experience. The "Players Only" broadcast is styled to follow match action as expected, but with a special focus on items from a player's perspective, giving fans an exclusive chance to glean insights and delve into the match from angles rarely experienced in a traditional broadcast setting.

Keller, Zakuani and Evans are no strangers to broadcasting, with many years of experience between the group. Keller, a former Sounder and decorated U.S. Men's National Team goalkeeper, has served as lead analyst for Sounders FC's regional telecasts for 10 seasons, in addition to duties in the booth for ESPN. Known as one of the league's most dynamic young players until forced into early retirement due to injuries, Zakuani has played a role as a broadcast analyst for Sounders FC since 2015. After making 255 career MLS appearances over 12 seasons - including nine successful campaigns in Seattle - former Sounders FC captain Evans has served as pre-match, halftime and post-match commentator on club broadcasts since 2020.

Together, the talented trio looks to deliver Sounders fans a unique and enlightening broadcast experience for Sunday's match, found only on flagship partner Sports Radio 950 KJR AM and also available for streaming via the Sounders FC and iHeartMedia mobile apps.

2021 marks the fourth consecutive season that iHeartMedia Seattle has served as Sounders FC's radio home, with all home and away MLS matches carried on 950 KJR AM or 1090 KJR AM, including a dedicated 30-minute pregame and 30-mintue postgame show surrounding each contest. Additionally, the station hosts an hour-long Sounders Weekly program, airing at 7:00 p.m. PT every Tuesday evening throughout the season.
