Sound Tigers Sign Five Players

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that five players have agreed to terms on minor league contracts. Forward Justin Johnson joins the organization on an American Hockey League (AHL) deal, while forward Ben Rosen, defensemen Mathieu Coderre-Gagnon and Sean Escobedo and goaltender Parker Milner have agreed to two-way (AHL/ECHL) contracts.

Johnson, 32, spent the last three seasons with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs, scoring 11 points (four goals, seven assists) with 392 penalty minutes in 103 games. The Anchorage, AK, native appeared in 190 career ECHL games from 2005-2010 with the Alaska Aces, Idaho Steelheads, Utah Grizzlies and Cincinnati Cyclones. He led the ECHL in penalty minutes in 2008-09 with 259. Prior to his professional career, Johnson played four seasons of college hockey at the University of Alaska-Anchorage.

Coderre-Gagnon, 20, spent the past three seasons with the Shawnigan Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, totaling 19 points (four goals, 15 assists) and 228 penalty minutes in 121 games. The Montreal, QC, native helped the team to a Memorial Cup Championship in 2011-2012. Last season, Coderre-Gagnon also played 35 games with the Whitecourt Wolverines of the Alberta Junior Hockey League and made his professional debut with the ECHL's Fort Wayne Komets.

Escobedo, 22, completed a four-year career at Boston University this past season. The Bayside, NY, native appeared in all but two games during his career with the Terriers, collecting 33 points (six goals, 27 assists) in 154 games.

Rosen, 24, also attended Boston University from 2009-2013, totaling 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) in 113 career games. Following his senior season, the Syosset, NY, native appeared in one game for the Sound Tigers, making his professional debut March 28 at the Springfield Falcons.

Milner, 22, played for Boston College from 2009-2013, backstopping the Eagles to an NCAA National Championship in 2011-12. The Pittsburgh, PA, native recorded a 29-5-0 record that season, allowing just two goals in four NCAA tournament games. Prior to his collegiate career, Milner registered an 11-0-0 record for Avon Old Farms in Connecticut, where the team won a 2008 New England Prep School title. He joins Ken Reiter, who attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth, as former NCAA Champion goaltenders in the Sound Tigers organization.
