Somerset Patriots Add Catcher/Infielder James Skelton and Pitchers Erik Arnesen and Jeremy Gigliotti

Bridgewater, NJ - The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced the signings of catcher/ infielder James Skelton and pitchers Erik Arnesen and Jeremy Gigliotti.

Skelton has experience in the Detroit Tigers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, and Washington Nationals organizations.

He has two seasons of Triple-A experience, including last year in Syracuse, where he finished with a .280 batting average in 17 games. Skelton spent 24 games at Double-A Harrisburg last year as well and hit .292.

Skelton has a minor league career .265 average, 451 hits, 89 doubles, eight triples, 22 home runs, and 220 RBI in 562 games played.

Arnesen, a right-handed pitcher, has spent his entire career before joining the Patriots in the Washington Nationals organization, including three seasons at the Triple-A level.

He spent the 2012 season in Triple-A Syracuse and finished with a 3-4 record, a 3.53 ERA, and 46 strikeouts in 63.2 innings pitched in 33 games.

In 2011, he finished with an 8-4 record, a 2.43 ERA, and 122 strikeouts in 126 innings pitched in 26 games at Double-A Harrisburg.

Arnesen has a minor league career 48-44 record, a 3.66 ERA, and 598 strikeouts in 778.2 innings pitched in 193 games played.

Gigliotti, a left-handed pitcher, has experience in the San Diego Padres organization and spent most of the 2012 season at their Single-A team in Lake Elsinore. He finished with a 1-1 record, a 3.38 ERA, and 12 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched in 14 games.

He has a minor league career 5-4 record, a 3.63 ERA, and 58 strikeouts in 52 innings pitched in 41 games.
