Columbus Cottonmouths News Release
The Columbus Cottonmouths added a combined 11 years of professional playing experience to their roster today with the re-signing of veteran forward Orrin Hergott and goaltender Ian Vigier.
Hergott, 29, enters his eighth season in Columbus, having been with the Snakes since his professional playing career began in 2004. Hergott is the lone remaining member from the Snakes' 2004-05 championship team. The 5'7" forward from Humboldt, Saskatchewan has accumulated 251 points in 337 regular season games in Columbus. He has served as an alternate captain for the past several seasons.
Vigier, 28, will return to the Snakes for his fifth season. Like Hergott, he has also spent his entire professional career in Columbus. Last season, Vigier recorded the lowest Goals Against Average of his professional career with a 2.79. Over the past four seasons, he has compiled a 64-51-14 regular season record and averaged a 2.98 Goals Against Average and .914 save percentage.
"Obviously Orrin and Ian have been here the longest, and they exemplify what the Cottonmouths stand for," head coach Jerome Bechard said. "They are hard workers, have a burning desire to win another championship in Columbus and are both leaders in their own way in the locker room. These guys have intertwined themselves in the community and made a home here. They are both married to Columbus girls are each expecting their first child-hopefully two new Snakes players in the future."
The Cottonmouths have now signed six players for the upcoming season, all returning members from last season. Currently signed for the 2011-12 season are forwards Sam Bowles, Brett Hammond and Hergott, defenseman Tom Maldonado and goaltenders Andrew Loewen and Vigier.
