Lake Buena Vista, Fla.- Tennessee (23-14, 58-49) avoided a series sweep with a 2-0 win over Orlando (47-59, 15-22) in the second game of a double header Tuesday night. A trio of youngsters, Jeremy Cook, Tyler Johnson, and John Novinsky combined to shutout the Rays on just two hits. The Rays came from behind for a 7-6 win in the first game.

Cook (1-0) worked four scoreless innings - his longest outing of the season - in his Double A debut. Johnson worked two perfect innings, and Novinsky earned his first Double A save by pitching a perfect 9th. The three combined to retire the final 10 O-Rays batters.

Dan Moylan opened the scoring in game two with a solo home run off reliever Travis Minix (3-3) in the fourth inning. The solo shot was Moylan's first of the year. Tennessee went ahead 2-0 in the 5th inning when John Nelson singled home Caonabo Cosme.

In game one, Orlando scored 5 runs in the 7th inning with 6 straight one out singles. Mike Lyons (L 3-4) didn't record an out after relieving Kevin Sprague with two men on and one out in the 7th, and allowed four straight hits including the game winning two-run single to Frank Moore.

Tennessee's 6-run 4th inning was aided by a pair of Orlando errors as the Smokies sent 11 men to the plate and took a 6-2 lead. Kevan Burns singled twice in the inning, and Bucky Jacobsen delivered a two run bases loaded single.

Dan Guillory (2-2) pitched 3 innings for the win for Orlando, keeping the Smokies scoreless.

Orlando's Dan Grummitt launched a two-run home run in 2nd inning to put the Rays up 2-0 against Chris Narveson.

The Smokies open an eight game homestand Thursday night against Orlando. Julio Villalon (4-2, 2.82) will start for Tennessee opposite Jose Veras (5-8, 3.60).
