Tri-City Storm News Release
KEARNEY - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League announced Wednesday morning that Beth Smith of Grand Island earned a pair of season tickets for the 2005-06 season by winning the Storm's "Live In Your Seats" contest that began Monday morning at 8 a.m. at the Kearney Event Center.
With contestants Robb Krysl, Craig Hansen, Tim Carroll and Smith remaining in their seats for 48 straight hours, the Storm staged a Chuck-A-Puck contest to determine a winner at 8 a.m. this morning. Smith's winning puck came to rest six feet and eight inches from the target. Carroll finished second with a distance of seven feet and nine inches.
Smith leaves with a prize package that includes a pair of season tickets, an opening night dinner, a VIP parking pass, a hotel on Sept. 24 and a Storm jersey. The additional three contestants that remained throughout the duration of the 48 hours took home tickets as well. Krysl, Hansen and Carroll each received two of the Storm's half-season ticket packages.
"The four contestants that reached the 48-hour mark showed what you can do if you truly put your mind to it," said Greg Shea, the Storm's vice president of operations.
The contest, which was presented by radio stations KROR and KSYZ, began with seven total contestants. Contestants Donna Barribo, Ronda Warford and Jessie Bethune drop out during the first 24 hours.
