Sioux City Explorers News Release

SIOUX CITY, IA - With the Holiday and winter season approaching, cold weather is among us. The Sioux City Explorers want to help keep everyone warm this winter by hosting their first annual "Spread the Warmth Mitten and Hat Drive".

All donation items received by the X's will be provided to the Salvation Army of Siouxland and distributed in conjunction with their annual Coats for Kids campaign.

"The first week in November we took part in the Blue Zone's Walking School Bus program, when temperatures were just beginning to get chilly," mentioned X's Assistant General Manager, Ashley Schoenrock. "Seeing the number of kids without hats or mittens was saddening. We knew we had to do something to help Spread the Warmth this winter."

To help spread the warmth, please stop by the Explorers' winter offices located at 600 Stevens Port Drive, Ste 105 in Dakota Dunes, SD (between Tyson Foods Corporate office and Oral Surgery Associates) and donate a pair of mittens or a stocking hat and receive a pair of complimentary tickets for any 2014 Sioux City Explorers home game during the month of May.

"We are so excited once again that the Sioux City Explorers have partnered with the Salvation Army of Siouxland to help boys and girls in need this Holiday Season. The Explorers glove and hat drive will be a home run in making Christmas bright for many children throughout Siouxland," comments The Salvation Army Corps officer Capt. Von R. Vandiver.

Donations will be accepted through Wednesday, December 18th. Help the Sioux City Explorers Spread the Warmth this season and keep Siouxland children warm, while also receiving your opportunity to enjoy the warmth of the summer at Lewis & Clark Park.
