Ottawa 67's News Release
OTTAWA - The Ottawa REDBLACKS will be well-represented during the 2017 Shaw CFL Awards as the league announced Thursday that receiver Brad Sinopoli and receiver/returner Diontae Spencer have been nominated in their respective categories.
Sinopoli has been nominated for Most Outstanding Canadian after reaching the 1,000-yard mark for the third-straight season. Despite missing Ottawa's final two games due to injury, Sinopoli hauled in 91 passes for 1,009 yards and three touchdowns. Sinopoli also showed once again he is a force after catching the ball, recording 384 yards after the catch.
Also front and centre for the REDBLACKS will be Spencer, nominated in the category of Most Outstanding Special Teams player. While Spencer put an exclamation point on his first season in Ottawa in the club's final regular season game when he set a CFL record with 496 all-purpose yards, the 25-year-old was a threat all year. He finished with 922 receiving yards to go along with 1,313 punt return yards, 1,162 on kickoff returns and 267 missed field goal return yards.
The awards were voted on by members of the Football Reporters of Canada in each city, as well as CFL head coaches.
The 2017 Shaw CFL Awards will be held on Thursday, Nov. 23 in Ottawa at the Shaw Centre. To purchase tickets to the Shaw CFL Awards and Rev-Up Party please visit www.greycupfestival105.ca.
