Dallas Sidekicks News Release

(ALLEN, TEXAS) - The Dallas Sidekicks first road game of the MASL season is Saturday, January 16th as they face the Florida Tropics at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland Florida at 4:05PM CST.

Florida (4-0) was one of the best teams in the MASL last season and their fine form has continued as they lead the league with a 4-0 record. This will be the fifth-straight home game to open the season for the Tropics whose 18-3 record last year lead the Eastern Conference with a plus-87 goal difference, tops in the league. Florida was lead by forward Ricardo Carvalho last season who had 23 goals and 23 assists to finish sixth overall in the league with 46 points. Carvalho has five points so far this season for the Tropics with former Milwaukee Wave free agent signing Ian Bennett leading the league with 11 points so far with his seven goals and four assists for his new club in Florida. Drew Ruggles is one of the best defenders in the league and has contributed on offense as well with three goals, including two game winners, and three assists so far in this young season with the Tropics.

Dallas (0-2) has dropped two close home games to open the season including a tough 6-5 loss to the St. Louis Ambush this past Saturday. The Sidekicks are lead in scoring by veteran Freddy Moojen who has three goals through two games keeping pace with Felipe De Sousa for the club lead. Lipe and Oscar Romero are each averaging a goal a game thus far in 2021.

The high flying Tropics won the only meeting between the two teams 7-0 last season back on January 31, 2020 at the Allen Event Center. It was Florida's first shutout in team history and ran their team record winning streak to six games, which would eventually reach nine, at the time. This followed a near shut out as the Tropics had defeated St. Louis 7-1 in their previous game.

The game can be purchased for $7.99 to watch on the MASL Facebook Page or for $74.99 you can watch every MASL indoor game this season.
