Shatori Walker-Kimbrough to Grant D.C. Family Back-To-School Shopping Spree at Tanger Outlets National Harbor

July 23, 2021 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) - Washington Mystics News Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Washington Mystics guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough is teaming up with Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, Delivering Good and Martha's Table "Get Ready 4 School Giveaway," by providing a local family with a back-to-school shopping spree at Washington, D.C. Metro Area's upscale Tanger Outlets National Harbor.

On Monday, July 26, Walker-Kimbrough will be joined by Ra'Chelle Dennis and her three-year old son, Noah, to shop for back-to-school clothes. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dennis, a hairstylist, and her family faced fiscal hardships and were challenged to find normality in their day-to-day routines.

When asked during the height of the pandemic how she was coping, Dennis said: "I am not able to work during this time, nor is my youngest son able to attend Martha's Table where he was just starting to get the Speech Therapy and extra classroom support he needs to be a successful Pre-K toddler. Trying to navigate the busy stuff, while homeschooling Noah. I don't know how the teachers do it."

To celebrate the return of in-person learning for students, Walker-Kimbrough's $500 back-to-school shopping spree, courtesy of Tanger Outlets National Harbor, is one part of the "Get Ready 4 School Giveaway." This safe, socially distanced back-to-school event aims to provide 5,000 D.C. families with all-new, all-free back-to-school clothing, supplies and health and wellness services.

On Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 11:00am - 5:00pm, families can come to the Pavilion at Gateway DC, 2700 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE, and pick up school supplies, snacks, and clothing for the whole family - and be surrounded by family-friendly fun. This event is being organized by Martha's Table, Delivering Good and Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation.

While there will be on-site registration, families are strongly encouraged to pre-register to avoid extended wait times. Interested families can sign up here:
