Senators Spoil Yard Goats Sunday Afternoon

Harrisburg, PA- The Hartford Yard Goats (74-66) were defeated by the Harrisburg Senators (75-66) by the score of 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at FNB Field in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The Senators scored runs in each of the first four innings to beat the Yard Goats for the third time in four games this weekend. Ashley Graeter had two hits, including an RBI double and Dillon Thomas cracked his team leading 37th double of the season for Hartford.

The Senators scored a pair of runs in the first inning off Hartford starting pitcher Zach Jemiola. Rafael Bautista began the game with a triple and scored and Andrew Stevenson's RBI single to make it 1-0 Harrisburg. Later in the inning, Jose Marmolejos doubled home Stevenson and the Senators took a 2-0 lead.

The Yard Goats made it a 2-1 game with a run in the second inning off Harrisburg starter Phillips Valdez. Ryan McMahon clubbed a double to begin the inning and took third on a wild pitch. Zach Osborne followed with a squeeze but allowing McMahon to score and make it a 2-1 contest.

However, the Senators scored single runs in the second and third innings to take a 4-1 edge. Spencer Kieboom came around on a couple of Hartford errors in the second inning and then Steven Perez drove home Isaac Ballou with an RBI single in the third inning for the three-run pad.

The Yard Goats scored again in the fourth inning to make it a two-run game. Dillon Thomas started the inning with a rocket double to left field and came in on Zach Osborne's sacrifice fly, making it 4-2 Harrisburg. The Senators answered in the bottom of the inning with two runs. Wilmer Difo cracked and RBI triple and then later scored on a sacrifice fly and it was 6-2 Harrisburg.

Hartford scored the final run of the game in the sixth inning. Rosell Herrera singled and then stole second base, his team leading 34th steal of the season. Ashley Graeter then blasted a two-out RBI double, scoring Herrera and making it a 6-3 game. The Yard Goats had the leadoff batter reach safely in both the eighth and ninth inning but could not score.

The Yard Goats play their final game of the season on Monday afternoon (1:30 PM) in Harrisburg, PA. LHP Sam Howard will start the Yard Goats. The game will be broadcast live on News Radio 1410 WPOP.
