Senators Snap Erie's Win Streak

The SeaWolves could not muster the come from behind magic on Saturday night at Jerry Uht Park as they dropped the middle game of the series against the Harrisburg Senators 10-6 in front of 5,188 fans.

The Senators struck first in the top of the first inning against Erie starter L.J. Gagnier. Derrick Norris slammed a solo home run with one out for a 1-0 lead. Leonard Davis singled and scored on a two-out Bryce Harper home run for a 3-0 Harrisburg lead.

In the third, Erik Komatsu doubled and Norris walked putting two on. The runners advanced on a wild pitch. Tyler Moore hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Komatsu for a 4-0 lead. Harper followed with a single bringing home Norris for a 5-0 Senators lead.

In the fifth, Harrisburg extended its lead to 7-0 when Davis connected on a two-run home run, his first of the season.

The SeaWolves got on the board in the bottom of the sixth against Harrisburg starter Danny Rosenbaum who was making his Double-A debut, Jamie Johnson was hit by a pitch and Gustavo Nunez reached on an error. With one out, Bryan Pounds walked for the third time loading the bases for Audy Ciriaco. Ciriaco extended his season-best hitting streak to nine straight with a double down the left field line. Two runs scored and a third came in on an error and Ciriaco ended up on third. Brandon Douglas grounded out, scoring Ciriaco making it a 7-4 game.

The Senators added a run in the seventh and two in the eighth against reliever Rob Waite to extend their lead to 10-4.

In the ninth inning, Justin Henry led off and singled. With one out, John Murrian slammed an opposite-field home run, his third, cutting the Senators lead back down to four at 10-6. Erie would get no closer.

Gagnier (3-5) took the loss allowing seven runs on eight hits with a walk and four strikeouts in five innings.

The loss snapped Erie's longest winning streak of the season at seven games.

The SeaWolves look for the series win on Sunday afternoon against the Senators...1:05 First Pitch. RHP Brooks Brown (2-6, 6.25 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against LHP Oliver Perez (2-2, 3.28 ERA).
