SeaWolves Announce Entertaining Promotions for 25th Season

(Erie, PA) - The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, have released the team's 2019 promotional calendar. 2019 Opening Night, presented by Plyler Entry Systems, is Friday, April 5 against the Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) at 6:05 p.m. Gates will open at 4 p.m. so fans can watch batting practice. Fans can also enjoy a pre-game Party at the Park to usher in the 25th season of SeaWolves baseball.


On Saturday, July 27, the SeaWolves will invite past players and staff to the game to reconnect and celebrate 25 seasons of SeaWolves baseball. The team will recognize longtime employees and sponsors during pre-game ceremonies. The festivities include a pre-game reception for community supporters who helped make UPMC Park a reality. The first 1,000 fans through the entrance will receive a SeaWolves 25 Seasons All-Time Team card set compliments of UPMC Hamot. The game will be followed by Zambelli fireworks presented by UPMC Health Plan. SeaWolves alumni appearance details will be announced at a later date.


Erie will participate in Minor League Baseball's Copa de la Diversión, a season-long event series celebrating Hispanic/Latino culture. On four select game dates (5/5, 6/18, 7/28, 8/13), the UPMC Park game day experience will transformed with Latin music, colorful decorations, specialty food & drink items, and custom authentic caps and jerseys to worn by the players. More details will be available on Monday, March 18.


This season's slate features 12 Zambelli fireworks nights, including three shows during the Independence Day homestand (June 29, July 2 and July 3). Fireworks musical themes include Star Wars (May 4), Workout Playlist (May 25), Katy Perry (June 1), Famous Sitcom Themes (June 15), Huey Lewis and the News (June 29), Florida Georgia Line (July 2), Patriotic Classics with a live, on-field performance by the Erie Philharmonic (July 3), Weird Al Yankovic (July 13), Hits from 1995 (July 27), Songs Across America (August 3), Red Hot Chili Peppers (August 17), and Fans' Choice with music decided by SeaWolves fans on Fan Appreciation Night (August 29).


Every Friday home game in 2019 will feature a promotional giveaway. On Opening Night (April 5), fans can pick up a schedule poster compliments of Delta Sonic as they exit the ballpark. On April 19, the first 1,000 fans will receive a SeaWolves 25 Seasons Long-Sleeve T-shirt. On May 3, the first 1,000 fans will receive a free SeaWolves tumbler courtesy of Pepsi.

The SeaWolves will host three retro replica jersey giveaway nights to honor three distinct eras in team history. On May 24, the first 1,000 fans will receive a Tigers-era home jersey (worn from 2001-2010 featuring orange and black team marks with black pinstripes) thanks to UPMC Hamot. On July 12, the first 1,000 fans will receive an Angels-era home jersey (worn during the 1999-2000 seasons and featuring a red and navy blue script and block numbers) courtesy of UPMC Health Plan. On August 16, the first 1,000 fans will receive a Pirates-era throwback home jersey (featuring the original team script across the front with powder blue pinstripes presented by UPMC. Each replica jersey will also feature the SeaWolves' 25 Seasons commemorative logo on its sleeve in the colors of each respective era.

June 28 is the first of two bobblehead giveaways as the first 1,000 fans will receive a Nick Castellanos collectable courtesy of UPMC Hamot. On August 2, the first 1,000 fans will take home a Eugenio Suárez bobblehead thanks to Fullington Trailways.

On July 26, the SeaWolves will once again be transformed into the Erie SnowWolves on Christmas in July. That night, the first 1,000 fans will receive a SnowWolves winter cap thanks to Ariens Company. Other 2019 giveaways include a Strike Out Cancer 25 Seasons T-shirt for the first 1,000 fans courtesy of UPMC Health Plan on May 31 and a SeaWolves beach towel for the first 1,000 fans on June 14 thanks to Velocity Network.


Many of the team's top recurring promotions will return in 2019. Monday home games will feature Buck Night concession specials with Smith's hot dogs, Pepsi soft drinks, popcorn and select draft beers for just $1 each. The first Buck Night, presented by Budweiser and Rocket 105, will be Monday, April 8.

Tuesday is Kids Eat Free Night as the first 250 kids (ages 12 & under) through the gates will be treated to a free Smith's hot dog, a bag of Utz potato chips and a Pepsi fountain drink thanks to 94.7 BOB-FM (excludes June 4 day game). Fans can also enjoy Two-Buck Tuesday specials (select draft beers for $2) in the Bud Light Beer Garden through the sixth inning. Other day-of-the-week drink promotions include Yuengling Thursdays ($3 Yuengling drafts at the Smith's Shack until the end of the sixth inning) and Happy Hour Fridays ($3 drink specials exclusively in the Bud Light Beer Garden until first pitch).

Each Thursday is a Throwback Thursday with special jerseys that merge the look of the team's 1995 and 2019 jerseys. The SeaWolves will offer a surprise merchandise or concessions special at 1995 prices at each Throwback Thursday game.

Sunday games feature multiple promotions including Kids Crew Day (Kids Crew members receive free admission to game to all Sunday games thanks to Giant Eagle and STAR 104) and post-game Catch on the Field. Additionally, Erie Federal Credit Union members can present their Platinum MasterCard, debit card or member ID when purchasing a regularly priced game ticket at the UPMC Park ticket office to receive a voucher for a free Smith's hot dog and fountain drink (limit four vouchers per member).


The SeaWolves continue to partner with area businesses to support community initiatives. Local school students will learn during Education Days presented by UPMC Health Plan with special 10:35 a.m. start times on May 9, May 15, June 4 and June 5.

The SeaWolves and UPMC Health Plan will team up to host 'Strike Out Cancer Weekend' on May 31-June 1. Players will don special cancer awareness jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds benefitting cancer support initiatives of the Hamot Health Foundation. On Friday, May 31, the first 1,000 fans receive a Cancer Awareness 25 Seasons SeaWolves t-shirt while Saturday, June 1 will feature post-game fireworks.

On Sunday, June 2 the SeaWolves will host their eighth annual sensory-friendly game in partnership with Autism Society NWPA. On Friday, June 14, the SeaWolves will host Military Appreciation Night. The SeaWolves will wear special military-themed jerseys that will be auctioned to benefit the PA Soldiers' & Sailors' Home.


On Friday, May 31, the SeaWolves will welcome "America's Ballpark Prankster" BirdZerk! The whirlybird will entertain fans with his spontaneous, outrageous and cool hijinks throughout the game. On Friday, July 12, the ZOOperstars! will appear. This unique show features hilarious inflatable characters with clever names such as Harry Canary, Tommy Laswordfish, Clammy Sosa, Shark McGwire and many more.

Dog owners can bring their leashed pets to four select Thursday home games. This season, Bark at the Park Nights, presented by PNC Bank, will be held on May 2, June 27, July 11 and August 15. The team will host its annual Scout Night and Family Campout after the game on Friday, June 28. The SeaWolves will host three Saturday beer tasting nights in the Bud Light Beer Garden on June 15, July 13 and August 3. The team will also host two wine tastings in partnership with Arundel Cellars and Brewing Co. on June 29 and August 17.

On August 14, Erie Day will celebrate life in the Flagship City and recognize a member of the Erie community for his or her civic contributions. On August 28, fans can change their mental latitude on Margaritaville Night.


Erie SeaWolves single-game tickets will be available for purchase online, via phone and at the UPMC Park ticket office starting Saturday, March 16 at 10 a.m. The team will celebrate Super Ticket Saturday with prize giveaways and free food and drinks compliments of Smith Provision Co., Utz Quality Snacks, Cellone's, C.A. Curtze and Pepsi. Rocket 105 will be on site from 10 a.m. until noon. Fans can purchase single game tickets, season ticket packages and a wide selection of NEW SeaWolves merchandise. The first 25 customers who spend $40 or more on tickets or merchandise at the ballpark will receive a free SeaWolves St. Patrick's Day green t-shirt.

Fans can help the SeaWolves 'Stuff the Batter's Box' to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of NW PA. Fans who donate non-perishable food items to Second Harvest on Super Ticket Saturday will be entered into a drawing for SeaWolves tickets and VIP experiences. The SeaWolves will award over $1,000 in prizes to fans donating at the food drive.
