LAST ONE IN RICHMOND: Portland looks to salvage the final game of a three-game set with the Richmond Flying Squirrels (Giants affiliate) on Thursday night at the Diamond...Portland has scored only one run in the two games, a second-inning RBI groundout by Jhon Nunez in the series opener...Righty Mike Shawaryn (2-5, 3.41) makes his 12th start of the season...Shawaryn has made eight of his 11 previous starts on the road (1-5, 4.17).
ALL IN THE FIRST: Richmond's Miguel Gomez and Jerry Sands hit back-to-back homers in the first inning, accounting for all the runs in a 3-0 win over Portland...Former UMaine standout Mike Connolly (3-2) worked two scoreless frames of relief to earn the win...Teddy Stankiewicz did not yield a run in his final 5.2 innings pitched but took the loss...Jhon Nunez paced Portland's offense by going 3-for-3, and Daniel McGrath pitched two scoreless.
