Sea Dogs announce 2006 schedule

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs, Class AA Eastern League affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have announced their schedule for the 2006 season. The home opener is scheduled for Thursday, April 13th at 6:00 PM against the Binghamton Mets. The Sea Dogs start the defense of their 2005 Northern Division Championship on the road on Thursday, April 6th in Norwich, Connecticut. The Sea Dogs expect to welcome their 5 millionth fan in franchise history sometime during the 2006 season.

The Eastern League season consists of 142 games (71 home and 71 away) against 11 opponents. The 2006 season is the Sea Dogs 13th year in Portland and fourth as a Boston Red Sox affiliate. Last season the Sea Dogs averaged a franchise record 6,290 fans per game and sold out 29 games.

Highlighting the 2006 schedule will be three visits to Hadlock Field by the Trenton Thunder (Yankees) and four visits from the Sea Dogs neighbor to the south the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays). The Thunder will come to Hadlock Field for a total of ten games (May 8th-May 10th, May 30th -June 1st, and June 30th-July 3rd). Meanwhile the Fisher Cats will make four trips to Portland in 2006 for 13 games. The Fisher Cats will be in town May 19th-May 21st, June 23rd-June 25th, August 15-August 17th, and September 1st-September 4th.

The Norwich Navigators will have a name change in 2006. Although the new name has not yet been announced, the team will be referred to as "Connecticut." The team will continue to play at Dodd Stadium in Norwich and remain affiliated with the San Francisco Giants. An announcement regarding the new team name is expected in late October.

The Sea Dogs will be home on Easter (April 16th at 1:00 PM), Patriot's Day (April 17th at 4:00 PM), Memorial Day (May 29th at 1:00 PM), Father's Day (June 11th at 1:00 PM), and Labor Day (September 4 at 1:00 PM). The Sea Dogs will be on the road on the Fourth of July. The Sea Dogs are home on Monday, July 3rd and will have a 6:00 PM game with Fireworks.

Individual Tickets for the 2006 season will go on sale at the Hadlock Field Box Office on Saturday, November 5th at 9:00 AM. Phone & Internet orders will begin on Monday, November 7th at 9:00 AM. Ticket prices remain unchanged from last season. Box seat tickets are $8.00 for adults and $7.00 for kids and seniors, reserved seat tickets are $7.00 for adults and $6.00 for kids and seniors, and general admission tickets are available for $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids and seniors. Tickets for the new U.S. Cellular Pavilion in right-field will NOT be available for sale on November 5th. An announcement regarding the first day of ticket sales for this seating area will be announced at a later date. Season Tickets are currently on sale. Standard game times this year will remain the same. April and May weekday games will begin at 6:00 PM, while weekend games will be at 1:00 PM. In June, July, and August weekday games will start at 7:00 PM, Saturday's at 6:00 PM, and Sunday's at 1:00 PM. In addition, the Sea Dogs will play five 12:00 noon games on April 19th, May 10th, June 1st, July 26th, and August 10th.

The 2006 schedule once again promises to be filled with many fun and exciting promotions. Although the promotional schedule is not yet determined, the Sea Dogs will once again have a series of firework shows, bobblehead doll giveaways, and bring back traveling acts like the ZOOperstars, Christopher, and Skyy Dogs USA. The fan favorite "Field of Dreams" promotion will also continue in 2006. A complete promotional schedule will be announced at a later date.
