Schneider Commits to Bowling Green State University
Saints forward set to join rising Falcons program
DUBUQUE, Iowa - Fighting Saints forward Taylor Schneider (Lakeville, Minn.) has decided to continue his hockey journey at the college ranks by committing to Bowling Green State University. The Falcons compete in the WCHA, and fell one game short of a WCHA championship a season ago.
"When I visited there, I really liked the campus, and I played with two guys that went there to play and they seemed to love it," Schneider said. "It just felt like a good fit for me."
Schneider has notched a goal and five assists in his 26 games of action with the Fighting Saints. He made the team after being drafted in the 15th round in Phase II of the 2017 USHL Draft, and a solid preseason effort. Recently, he has been part of a dynamic line alongside Tyce Thompson and Adam Tisdale.
"Everything I've done every day in Dubuque, between practices and classes, and doing extra stuff outside of practice has helped me get to this point."
"We're happy for him. He's earned it in every sense of the way through hard work and coming into camp and earning a spot on the team," said assistant coach Paul Kirtland. "He's the epitome of our four pillars: conditioning, competing, community, and college."
Most importantly, Schneider has been an invaluable part of the Saints' penalty kill (81.3%), which has given up the second-fewest power play goals against in the league (14).
"He is all about competitiveness. He's a taller kid, he has reach and he can skate. Those three things definitely help him as a great penalty killer, and those are his biggest assets."
