Salute to the Sandlot, Bobbleheads & Flavor Flav Fill Promo Calendar

Funnville - The Flying Squirrels unveiled their fully-loaded 2018 promotional calendar at a press conference Friday at The Diamond. The promotional schedule includes 24 fireworks shows, 34 giveaways (a record-high five bobblehead giveaways), three celebrity appearances and two Grateful Dead Nights. A full list of promotions can be found here. Single-game tickets for the 2018 season go on sale Saturday, March 3 at Nutzy's Block Party, starting at 11 a.m. Online orders will begin at 12 p.m.
The promotional calendar is highlighted by a season-long tribute to the iconic coming-of-age baseball movie, The Sandlot. The Flying Squirrels will be honoring The Sandlot's 25th anniversary throughout the year in a "Salute to the Sandlot" series (click to see images). Five games are dedicated to memorable moments, items and characters within the film and are as follows:
April 16 (click to view): "Slightly chewed" Bambino Baseball Giveaway presented by Ardent Craft Ales (first 1,000 fans 21+).
May 7: "The Beast" Dog Bowl Giveaway presented by Pet Pleasers (first 500 dog owners).
June 22: Benny "The Jet" 3/4 -Sleeve Shirt Giveaway presented by Mountain Dew (first 1,500 fans 15+).
August 20: "The Beast" Bobbledog Giveaway (first 1,000 fans 15+).
August 30: Celebrity appearance from Michael "Squints" Palledorous, actor Chauncey Leopardi presented by James River Air.
The 2018 promotional calendar also features a franchise-record FIVE bobblehead giveaways. The list includes Richmond-centric figures such as Edgar Allan Poe and Michael Robinson.

May 13: Nutasha Mother's Day Bobblehead Giveaway (first 1,000 14 and under).
May 30: Edgar Allan Poe "Bobblestache" Giveaway (first 1,000 fans 15+).
July 5: Grateful Dead Nutzy "Dead Head" Bobblehead Giveaway (first 1,000 fans 15+).
August 20: Salute to the Sandlot "The Beast" Bobbledog Giveaway (first 1,000 fans 15+).
"We are thrilled with our 2018 promotional calendar," said Flying Squirrels VP & COO Todd "Parney" Parnell. We are looking forward to making many new memories in Funnville this season, on and off the field."
Parney and company will be shouting YEAH, Boyeee! on June 21 with a celebrity appearance from reality TV star and hip-hop artist Flavor Flav. Bring your oversized clocks to The Diamond for this old school celebration.
The Flying Squirrels are also returning the popular "Seven Days of Squirrels" daily promotions. Overall, the Flying Squirrels will host 24 fireworks shows, ten Free Shirt Giveaways and ten Tip of the Cap Giveaways.
Daily Promotions:
Monday: Bark in the Park (dogs welcome!).
Tuesday: Tip of the Cap Tuesday (Hat Giveaways listed below).
Wednesday: Wine up Wednesday (wine specials).
Thursday: In-Your-Face Fireworks.
Friday: Free Shirt Friday & RVA's Best Happy Hour (T-Shirt Giveaways listed below).
Saturday: Super Blast Fireworks/ In -Your-Face Fireworks.
The Flying Squirrels have also doubled down on Grateful Dead Nights this year. The team will wear custom Grateful Dead-themed jerseys on July 5 (Nutzy Dead Head Bobblehead Night) and again on August 17 (Tie-Dye T-Shirt Giveaway). Jerseys will be auctioned off during the August 17 game with proceeds benefitting Flying Squirrels Charites.
2018 will mark the second season of the popular Tip of the Cap Tuesday promotion. This year's caps are:

June 19: Limited Edition Scott's Addition Cap Giveaway presented by Morton Consulting (first 1,000 fans 15+).
July 17: Summer St. Paddy's Day Green FS Cap Giveaway presented by Mountain Dew (first 1,000 fans 15+).
August 7: Salute to the Peanut Foam Peanut Hat Giveaway (first 1,000 fans 15+).
August 21: Mesh Trucker Cap Giveaway presented by Budweiser (first 1,000 fans 21+)
August 28: Flying Squirrels Cowboy Hat Giveaway (first 1,000 fans 15+).
Additionally, The Flying Squirrels have amped up Free Shirt Friday & Richmond's Best Happy Hour. Each Friday home game (excluding Opening Night), the Squirrels will be giving away 1,500 shirts, a 50% increase from previous years. The shirt themes are:
