Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Fighting Saints defenseman Luke Robinson announced his commitment to the Air Force Academy this morning. In his second season with the Dubuque Fighting Saints, Robinson has rounded in to form as a physical defenseman. His is one of three assistant captains on the team and currently has five points on one goal and four assists. Robinson is also a plus-20 in 40 games this season.

"To be able to play Division I hockey is a dream come true," said Robinson. "Both my parents were DI athletes so since I was a kid that was my goal. I chose the Air Force Academy because I believe it is a place that will give me the opportunity to thrive. I take my education, discipline and leadership seriously, and these are all values of the Academy. The hockey team has experienced great success the past few years and I hope to add to that. With this commitment in place all my focus is on the Fighting Saints and the special group we have this year."

The Brentwood, Tennessee native spent parts of three seasons with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights of the NAHL before joining the Fighting Saints midway through the 2018-19 season. Robinson had three assists in his 26 games with the team last year

"Luke has been a culture carrier since the moment he joined us," said head coach Oliver David. "His leadership, belief in what we do, and overall presence are a big reason we all experience a better life daily. His value cannot be understated. I wish everyone could meet and get to work alongside a Luke Robinson. He will fly high at Air Force."

Robinson's commitment is the most recent for the Fighting Saints since Ben Schultheis committed to Ferris State. The nod to Air Force also means that the Saints now have six defensemen with college commitments on this year's roster.
