Omaha Lancers News Release

Ralston, NE - A pair of early goals from Filip Rydstrom were all the offense the Lancers needed to secure the win as they defeated in-state foe Tri-City 4-1 Friday night at Ralston Arena.

Filip Rydstrom tallied the Lancers' ninth two-goal game of the season. The captain has points in three of his last four games. No Lancer has been able to break past two and complete the hat trick yet this season. Mike Higgins, with an assist, became the 21st skater to record a point in a Lancers uniform this season.

Omaha took an early lead in the first thanks to the quick shot of captain Filip Rydstrom. After taking a drop pass from Austin Alger at the top of the left circle, Rydstrom snapped a quick shot past Eric Dop low to the blocker side giving the Lancers a 1-0 lead. Late in the period Omaha got an opportunity on the man-advantage when Danny DiGrande was given a match penalty for removing Filip Suchy's helmet. Rydstrom collected the puck at the right post, hesitating before tucking a wrap-around past Dop to give the Lancers a 2-0 lead. Omaha took the 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Lancers started the second period on the power play. Just after time expired on the man-advantage Mitch Perrault pushed the Lancers lead to 3-0. Perrault's tally was his seventh of the season. Just over halfway through the middle frame Tri-City found themselves on the power play and took advantage cutting the Omaha lead to 3-1.

Adam Goodsir walked into the high slot before snapping home a shot past Nappier on the blocker side. Tri-City seemed to pick up a little momentum, but Erlends Klavins snapped that shortly after.

As the clock ticked down to just under five minutes remaining in the period Klavins buried the insurance tally that would give the Lancers a 4-1 lead. The goal gave Klavins goals in back-to-back games for the first time this season, and points in three of his last four games.

In the third period both Dop and Nappier would be up to every test thrown their way, holding both teams scoreless.

Nappier, notching his second consecutive win, made 25 saves on 26 shots. Dop made 28 saves on 32 shots in the loss.

Omaha finished 1-for-5 on the man-advantage, while Tri-City finished 1-for-3.

The Lancers head to Sioux Falls tomorrow to take on the Stampede for the third time this season.
