RSL Begins 2006 Campaign in Six Days Against Chivas USA

SALT LAKE CITY (Monday, March 27, 2006) - In six days, Real Salt Lake will open the 11th Major League Soccer season on the road against Western Conference rival Chivas USA at The Home Depot Center on Sunday, April 2 at 5:00 p.m. MT and televised locally on KSL Channel 5. During its 2005 inaugural season, RSL tied the series 2-2 against its expansion brethren in the regular season winning both games at home, but added an additional win on October 28, 2005 in a competitive exhibition match at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

"At the end of the 2005 season we started to set our sites as an organization on the 2006 season and we've been looking forward to this game for a long time," said RSL Head Coach John Ellinger. "Our objective this weekend is to get a positive result and nothing less."

In the club's inaugural MLS game in 2005, RSL earned its first ever point in a scoreless 0-0 tie against the MetroStars in near monsoon conditions at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 2, 2005.

INJURY REPORT UPDATE: RSL captain and FW Jason Kreis is being reevaluated by U.S. Men's National Team doctor, Bert Mandelbaum, since playing in his first match on March 19. Kreis had a portion of his meniscus shaved and a Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) graft on Sept. 30, 2005, with the surgery performed by Dr. Mandelbaum, at Santa Monica Orthopedic in Santa Monica, Calif.

MF Seth Tremby is also recovering from his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) surgery to his left knee. The Colorado Native had minor meniscus clean up and a revision done to his ACL on March 17, with the surgery performed by U.S. Men's National Team doctor, Bert Mandelbaum, at Santa Monica Orthopedic in Santa Monica, Calif. DF Paul Broome had surgery on his left ankle to clean up scar tissue and will not be able to join to the team for 12 weeks. Broome has not participated in RSL's 2006 preseason training camp due his left ankle internal derangement.

FW Jeff Rowland will be out for several months of the 2006 season with a right knee Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. The Albuquerque, New Mexico native had his ACL surgically grafted by RSL Team Physician and Orthopedic Surgeon, Andrew Cooper, at the Comprehensive Orthopedic Specialists in Salt Lake City, Utah.

RSL PLAYERS, COACHES & EXECUTIVES ON LOCAL RADIO: RSL invites the Utah community to join its executives, coaches and players on local radio beginning today, March 27 to Friday, March 31 as it prepares for the 11th MLS season and its first match against Chivas USA at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. RSL executives, coaches and players will be featured live on KALL 700 AM on the Bill Riley Show and the Matt Thomas Show, and on 1280 The Zone with David James and Patrick Kinahan on "The Manly Morning Show" and with Ryan Hatch and David Fox on "Hatch and Hollywood", and on La Bonita 1600 AM with Luis Rivas and Nelson Moran on "Hablando de Deportes." SINGLE-GAME TICKETS FOR ENTIRE SCHEDULE ON SALE: RSL single-game tickets for the entire 2006 season schedule are officially on sale at the University of Utah Ticket Office, located at the Stadium's south end. Previously single-game tickets were put on sale only for the RSL home opener against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. RSL single-game tickets prices for the 2006 season are $16 for north goal, $20 for corner flag, $27 for premier east and $32 for VIP west. The KFC Colonel's Corner $12 ticket in Sections E40 and E41, can now be purchased at 35 KFC restaurants in Utah. Fans can now purchase a premium level seat on the East side of Rice-Eccles stadium for five of the 2006 season games plus receive one RSL T-shirt and a full 3x5 ft. 2006 RSL SEASON, HALF SEASON AND FLEX TICKET PACKAGES ON SALE: The RSL 2006 season ticket package features 20 games, including all 16 MLS regular season games and four special bonus games. Real Salt Lake's season ticket pricing remains level with the 2005 prices, and consists of Youth (15 and younger) and Adult in five price levels. Prices for the 2006 season ticket packages are $200 adult ($180 youth) for the North Goal, $300 adult ($240 youth) for the Corner Flag, $400 ($320 youth) for East Sideline, $500 ($400 youth) for VIP and $1,000 ($1,000 youth) Club seats.

The 2006 half season plan features 10 games (to be announced once the MLS 2006 schedule is announced), including nine MLS regular-season games and one special bonus game. Real Salt Lake's mini-plan ticket pricing consists of Youth (15 and younger) and Adult in four price levels. Prices for the 2005 mini-plan season ticket packages are $130 adult ($110 youth) for the North Goal, $180 adult ($150) for the Corner Flag, $220 adult ($180 youth) for East Sideline and $300 adult ($230 youth) for VIP seats.

To add more options for fans, RSL is also offering the flex season ticket package, which is comprised of twenty vouchers of the same price category (North Goal, Corner Flag, Premium and VIP) that allows the purchaser to determine which games they would like to see in the regular reason and how many tickets needed for that game. Prices for the 2005 Flex Package are $280 for the North Goal, $340 for the Corner Flag, $440 for the East Sideline and $560 for the VIP seats. Tickets can be redeemed in the following way: one could use all the vouchers and bring 20 people to one game or 4 people could attend five games. Flex vouchers are discounted from the day of game pricing making it an even greater value.
