St. Cloud Rox News Release

Eau Claire, WI - After being held scoreless through seven innings, St. Cloud (44-14) erupted for seven runs in the final two frames to come back for a 7-2 win over Eau Claire (24-34).

The Rox entered the ninth inning trailing by one run but sent ten batters to the plate and tallied six runs to get the victory. Easton Waterman (Point Loma Nazarene) gave the Rox the lead on a two-run single down the right-field line.

Jordan Schulefand (Maine) finished his game with back-to-back RBI singles, his first two hits as a member of the Rox. His first base hit brought in Cody Kelly (Minnesota) to get the Rox on the board for the first time.

The cherry on top was a two-RBI triple from Nick Yovetich (San Francisco). Yovetich tallied the first and last hit of the game for the Rox and extended the St. Cloud lead to 7-2 heading into the bottom half of the ninth.

The Rox were able to stay in the game thanks to another phenomenal pitching performance from Storm Hierholzer (TCU). Hierholzer went a season-long six innings on the mound and the only blemish on his line was a three-run home run.

Out of the bullpen, Nick Penick (Saint John's University) earned the win with two shutout frames. Penick helped the Rox keep the game within reach in the late innings before the Rox erupted. Then, Connor Barison (Washington State) sent the Express down in order in the ninth to seal the victory.
