RoughRiders Host Youngstown for a pair of games this weekend
CEDAR RAPIDS- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will host the Youngstown Phantoms Friday, January 5th and Saturday, January 6th at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. Both games will start at 7:05 pm.
Friday night the RoughRiders will host their 4th annual "Small Dogs Derby" which will take place during the 1st intermission. The dogs will race on the ice for prizes. Pet owners can register their small dogs up for the race by calling 319-247-0340. Registration is just $10 and all proceeds from the registration will be donated to the Cedar Valley Humane Society. The dogs must weigh approximately 20 pounds. For more information on the event, call the RoughRiders front office at the previously mentioned phone number.
Saturday night is Star Wars Night. Characters from the 501st Legion will be in attendance and available for photos and interaction. The characters will be available when the gates open at 6 pm. The Legion is an all-volunteer organization which seeks to promote interest in the Star Wars series of movies and its characters.
The two teams met in Youngstown December 14th & 15th. The Riders lost December 14th by a score of 2-1 in a shootout and won December 15th by a score of 3-1. The RoughRiders are 11-10-3-1 on the season and tied for 5th place in the Eastern Conference.
