Frisco RoughRiders News Release
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals scored in five different innings en route to a 14-2 victory over the RoughRiders in a series opener Wednesday night at Arvest Ballpark.
Northwest Arkansas (62-56, 27-24) began their scoring in the third inning with four runs against Adalberto Flores (4-3). Matt Treanor, who is currently rehabbing with the Naturals, capped off the frame with a two-run single. Two innings later, the Naturals scored four more runs, this time against Fabio Castillo. Nine men came to the plate in the fifth, and the first four scored.
Northwest Arkansas tacked on another pair in the sixth inning and three in the seventh. The Naturals completed the scoring with a single tally in the eighth.
In all, eight Naturals had at least one hit, and seven had at least one RBI. Anthony Seratelli led the way with five hits, four RBIs and three runs.
Starter Chris Dwyer (7-10) did not need much run support. Dwyer, one of the top pitching prospects in Kansas City's farm system, allowed only two runs on five hits in six and two-thirds innings. Dwyer struck out eight and did not allow a hit until the fifth.
The RoughRiders (67-54, 27-24) pushed home their first run in the sixth with three straight two-out singles, with Jonathan Greene notching his 67th RBI of the season in the process. In the seventh, Davis Stoneburner doubled home Elio Sarmiento.
Neil Ramirez tossed a scoreless first inning for the RoughRiders in his third Double-A start. With Frisco, Ramirez has yet to allow a run in six and a third innings. During that span, the right-hander has struck out ten and scattered four hits.
The 'Riders and Naturals continue this three-game series Thursday night at 7:00. Lefty Ben Snyder (8-5, 4.37 ERA) will take to the mound for the RoughRiders, and he will oppose right-hander Jake Odorizzi (4-2, 4.57 ERA). Pre-game coverage along the RoughRiders Baseball Network begins at 6:30.
