June 5, 2020 - Canadian Football League (CFL) - Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release

The Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation (SRF) are thrilled to announce that with the proceeds from the sale of the Rider Masks a donation of $15,000 each has been made to the mâmawêyatitân centre's Chili for Children in Regina and CHEP Good Food in Saskatoon.

"Masks went on sale to the public in early May and received an overwhelming response from Rider Nation, who we know are always willing to help our Saskatchewan community," said Roughrider Foundation Executive Director Cindy Fuchs. "Our community partners are extremely important to us and we are committed to supporting them and helping them through these unprecedented times."

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Chili for Children was providing hot lunches to 850 children three times a week, preparing approximately 96,000 meals per school year, and transporting the food to three schools in the North Central neighbourhood in Regina. During the pandemic, Chili for Children has pivoted to providing weekly lunch packs to children, families and individuals in need.

"On behalf of our Board and staff, I want to sincerely thank the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club and the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation for their support to Chili for Children," said Greg Stevenson, Director, Chili for Children. "This very generous donation will go directly toward our continued provision of nutritious food supports for children, families and seniors within Regina over the coming months."

In Saskatoon, CHEP Good Food works with children, families and communities to improve access to nutritious food and promote food security. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, CHEP swiftly introduced the Good Food Delivery program and the School Family Lunch Box for weekly deliveries to their families while also mobilizing on behalf of Saskatoon seniors.

Interim Executive Director Jean Goerzen is thrilled to be able to put the donation towards CHEP's new programs. "CHEP Good Food is excited to kick our Rider Nation engagement up a notch and partner with the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation for school children's health and nutrition," said Goezren.

Rider Masks remain sold out, but the Rider Store at Mosaic Stadium has re-opened to the public and is serving customers Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The webstore at is available 24-hours a day.
