Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - New Hampshire starter Jordan Romano stymied Binghamton's bats for seven innings and guided the Fisher Cats past the Rumble Ponies, 5-2, on Thursday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. The Ponies were held to four hits in the rubber game loss.

For the seventh time in their last eight games, the Rumble Ponies allowed the first run. Andrew Guillotte opened the first inning with a single against Andrew Church, took two bases on an errant pickoff throw, and scored on Cavan Biggio's sacrifice fly.

New Hampshire added to the lead with a two-spot in the fourth inning. With runners at the corners, Max Pentecost shot an RBI single into left. Harold Ramirez tacked on after the tiebreaking hit with a run-producing fielder's choice to short.

Romano kept the Rumble Ponies offense in check for seven innings. The righty set down 10 of the first 11 batters he faced before a brief stumble in the fourth in which Matt Oberste delivered an RBI single. In the fifth, Romano left the bases loaded, inducing Peter Alonso to fly out to preserve a two-run lead. The Ontario native retired the final seven Ponies he faced before handing off to the bullpen.

Romano (2-0) allowed one run on two single to collect the win. He struck out four and stepped around three walks in the victory. Jose Fernandez and Zach Jackson combined for two innings to close New Hampshire's pitching tab. Church (0-2) surrendered three runs (two earned) on six hits over seven innings in the loss.

The Rumble Ponies (4-7) return home to start a three-game series against the Erie SeaWolves on Friday at 7:05 PM. RHP Nabil Crismatt takes the mound against RHP Spencer Turnbull. The Horizons Federal Credit Union pregame show starts at 6:50 PM and can be heard on NewsRadio 1290 WNBF and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies channel on TuneIn.
