September 25, 2018 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release

Philadelphia, PA - The Toronto Rock selected four players at the 2018 NLL Draft on Tuesday night in Philadelphia, PA.

Prior to the draft, Rock GM Jamie Dawick stated that defence would be the focus of this year's draft and that philosophy was reflected in the team's first pick of the night in defender Brad Lyons from the Peterborough Jr. A Lakers. Lyons, a native of Clarington, ON, is just 19-years old and still has two years of Junior Lacrosse eligibility remaining. The young defender brings a solid frame at 6'1" and 185 lbs.

The Rock selected another defender in the 4th Round (44th Overall), in 23-year old AJ Kluck from the University of Albany. The native of Calgary, Alberta won the Minto Cup Canadian Jr. A Championship as a member of the Six Nations Arrows in 2015. Prior to that, Kluck won the Alberta Jr. A Championship with the Okotoks Raiders.

In the 5th Round, 57th Overall, the Rock selected defender Scott Dominey from the Orangeville Jr. A Northmen. The hard-working defender was a member of the Jr. B Northmen that captured the Founders Cup Canadian Jr. B Championship in 2016 and 2017. The 21-year old is a native of Caledon, ON.

With the Rock's final pick, 6th Round, 68th Overall, defender Mitch Gustavsen was selected from Toronto Beaches Jr. A. The gritty defender is also dominant in faceoff circle and doesn't shy away from the physical aspect of the game.

After tonight's NLL Entry Draft, the Rock will shift their attention to training camp preparations. Toronto will play three exhibition games in November at the TRAC in Oakville, ON. The full training camp and exhibition schedule will be released later this week.
