The Rivermen enter play tonight after a 4-3 win over the Thunderbolts last Saturday at Carver Arena thanks to the first SPHL hat trick for winger Cody Dion. Dion's three-goal explosion is the first three-point game of his 90-game SPHL career, and extends his home and overall point-scoring streaks to seven games apiece. For the season, the Colorado Springs, CO native has notched a team-high nine goals and added six assists over 18 games this season, including five goals and three helpers in five games against Evansville.
OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN
Rivermen captain Dan Bremner recorded a pair of assists in last Satruday's 4-3 Rivermen victory, giving the veteran winger his first multi-point game since he recorded his first career hat trick at Carver Arena November 25 against the Thunderbolts. For the season, the Sarnia, Ontario native has logged 11 points on four goals and seven assists in 15 games played, adding a team-best +10 rating and 31 penalty minutes.
THE MONKEY IS GONE
Peoria's third goal in last Saturday's win over the Thunderbolts was their first power-play tally in their last 35 man-advantage chances, snapping a skid that dated back over a month to November 12, when the Rivermen scored on the power play in an eventual loss to Huntsville at home. For the season, Peoria's power play unit ranks last in the league with a conversion clip of 11.1%, while Evansville's powerplay has surged up to fifth in the league at 13.8%. On the penalty kill, the Rivermen rank fifth at 84.7% while the Thunderbolts are last in the 10-team SPHL at 80.6% success against the opposition's power play.
WHAT'S AHEAD
After tonight's battle against the Thunderbolts, the Rivermen will return home for a pair of games December 30 and 31 against the Mississippi RiverKings. Peoria will then travel to Southaven, MS for a pair with the RiverKings January 6 & 7 at Landers Center. After that, Peoria will return to Carver Arena for the season's first three-game home weekend, when Peoria hosts Macon January 13 & 14 before finishing off the weekend with a Sunday matinee against the Thunderbolts at 3:05 in Peoria.

The Rivermen took a morning game at the Ford Center November 2 by a 5-1 score before beating the Thunderbolts 8-2 in Peoria on November 25. Evansville bounced back to win 2-1 in a sudden-death shootout the following night. After last weekend's home-and-home, the Rivermen and Thunderbolts face each other for the third straight time tonight, and the teams will face off again January 15 in Peoria, January 22, 28, and February 21 in Evansville before concluding their 12-game season series February 24 in Peoria and February 25 in Evansville.
SCOUTING THE THUNDERBOLTS
Evansville comes into play tonight riding a two-game losing streak after the Rivermen snapped a five-game win streak last weekend. Evansville recently got winger John MacDonald back from ECHL Indy. MacDonald was tied for the team lead in point production with 12 when he was loaned to the Fuel. The Thunderbolts are currently paced in scoring by former Rivermen center Josh Harris, who has tallied five goals and nine assists in 21 games between Peoria and Evansville this season.
A FAMILIAR FOE
The Thunderbolts come into play today with a number of former Rivermen on their roster, including Harris and Garrett Vermeersch, who were teammates with Peoria during the 2014-15 season, and defenseman Mike Donnellan, Evansville's captain, who has skated in 10 games this season, logging a goal and an assist after he posted a goal and 10 helpers in 27 games for the Rivermen last season. On the other side, Rivermen goaltender Tyler Parks began this season with Evansville, going 0-3-1 in four games before joining Peoria, where he has gone 2-1-2 with Peoria.
