Right Wing Brian Willsie Returns

HERSHEY - The 2010 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the Washington Capitals that right wing Brian Willsie has signed a contract with Washington/HERSHEY. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

A Belmont, ON native, Willsie began his professional career with HERSHEY in 1998-99. He scored 19 goals in his first full season with the BEARS, and scored 86 goals for the Chocolate and White between 1998 and 2003. Willsie put home a career-high 29 goals while skating for the BEARS during the 2002-03 campaign, leading the team in goal production that season.

Willsie, 32, brings 380 games of NHL experience to the organization heading into 2010-11, scoring 52 NHL goals with the Capitals, Los Angeles Kings and Colorado Avalanche. He scored 26 goals last season for Lake Erie (AHL), adding 31 assists for 57 points. Originally a sixth round selection (146thoverall) by Colorado in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Willsie saw action in four games for the Avalanche last season as well. His NHL career high for goals came with Washington during the 2005-06 campaign, when he potted 19 lamp-lighters in the District.

The BEARS will begin play in October, looking to win a third straight Calder Cup championship. The full American Hockey League schedule is expected to be released in early August.
