 Sarnia Sting

Richardson Outduels Langevin in 1-0 Sting Setback

February 10, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Sarnia Sting News Release

The Sarnia Sting hosted the Kitchener Rangers on Sunday afternoon.

Today's theme was eSports at The Hive, presented in partnership with Lambton College. There were video games across the arena and fans were able to get involved in a unique digital experience throughout the rink.

We wore specialty sweaters that will be up for auction on Monday morning. There was definitely a cool vibe in the air all afternoon long.

This one was a defensive contest. Sting netminder Ethan Langevin and Rangers goalie Luke Richardson each played stellar throughout the day.

Rangers forward Greg Meireles scored the lone goal. With only 0.1 seconds left on the clock in the second period, Meireles drove hard into the Sting crease. Riley Damiani hit him on the tape with a perfect pass. After a long video review, one that was very much fitting for our eSports theme, it was determined Meireles just got it over the line in time.

The Sting had solid offensive chances throughout the game, including a Jacob Perreault opportunity in the second period that linemate Franco Sproviero set up with some real finesse. But we just couldn't sneak one past Richardson. The 1-0 score held on as today's final.

An official box score can be viewed here.

We return to action on Thursday in Windsor for our second straight weekend playing in a home-and-home series. That will be a 7:05 start at the WFCU Centre. The Spitfires will be in town on Friday night for the second half. Puck drop at The Hive is 7:05 PM.

We'll host the Saginaw Spirit on Monday afternoon for our annual Family Day game! Pick up your Sting tickets by clicking on the link below!
