Revs Crush Ducks For Third Straight Win, Taking Over First Place

The York Revolution pounded the Long Island Ducks 10-0 on Sunday afternoon at Santander Stadium, taking the four-game series with a third consecutive win and moving back into sole possession of first place by a full game heading into the final week of the season's first half with seven games to play. The Revs' eight-game homestand will continue as they host the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Monday night at 6:30 p.m.

The Revs crushed a season-high four home runs, and used the long ball to get the scoring started right away. After leading off the first inning with a first pitch home run the night before, Justin Greene launched a leadoff home run to left-center on the third pitch he saw for the game's first run, becoming the first in Revs history to lead off consecutive games with a home run. Wilson Valdez followed with a towering fly to left that cleared the Arch Nemesis for his first home run of the year and the first set of back-to-back home runs to lead off a game in Revolution history, giving the home team an instant 2-0 lead.

The Revs piled on runs throughout the game. Valdez crossed the plate on a wild pitch in the third inning, extending the lead to 3-0. Travis Garcia then lifted a solo homer down the left field line leading off the fourth inning.

York scored three times in the fifth as Johan Limonta ripped an RBI single up the middle and Garcia drove a two-run double to deep right-center, making it a 7-0 lead.

Eric Patterson lined an RBI double to left in the sixth, and Limonta drove in another run on a groundout as the advantage climbed to 9-0.

Patterson added one more in the eighth on a solo homer to left-center.

The benefactor of the offense was Revs starter Logan Williamson (1-1) who was impressive in earning his first win with York while making his home debut. Williamson limited the Ducks to just four hits and no walks while striking out six over six shutout innings.

Reliever Bryan Morgado made his Revs debut with two scoreless innings and Rommie Lewis fired a scoreless ninth to close out York's third shutout win of the year and first at home.

Ducks starter Bobby Blevins (4-3) suffered the loss, charged with seven runs (five earned) on eight hits in 4.1 innings.

Notes: The Revs' four home runs marked their most in a game since July 20, 2013 at Southern Maryland. Greene's leadoff home run was his third of the season, tying the club's single season record (Scott Grimes in 2010, Patterson in 2013). Greene went 3-for-5, extending his hitting streak to 11 consecutive games; he is batting .457 (21-for-46) on the streak. York's back-to-back home runs in the first inning marked their first set of back-to-back home runs all season. The Revs have hit eight home runs over their last three games, moving from seventh in the league in home runs into a tie for second over those three games, now with 42 homers as a team on the season. The Revs improve to 23-3 when hitting a home run and 12-0 when hitting multiple homers. Valdez stole his league-leading 26th base of the season in the third inning, already within two of matching the team's single season record (28 by Grimes in 2010). The win marks the seventh time in Revs history that they have shut out an opponent while scoring in double figures, and the first since August 25, 2012, a 10-0 win at Somerset. The 10-0 score ties the fourth biggest shutout victory in club history. The Revs improve to 37-26, establishing their most wins in a first half since going 40-30 and winning the first half title in 2010. The Revs outscored the Ducks 17-1 over the final two games of the series, while out-hitting Long Island 23-11. York pitchers held Ducks centerfielder Lew Ford, the league's leading hitter, to two hits in 14 at-bats for the series. York righty Jorge Martinez (3-2, 3.26) will take the mound on Monday night against the Blue Crabs.
