December 19, 2020 - United Soccer League One (USL1) - New England Revolution II News Release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution II defender Colby Quiñones has been called up to the Puerto Rico National Team ahead of its January training camp. A Revolution Academy product from Bedford, N.H., Quiñones will represent Puerto Rico for the first time, with friendlies scheduled against the Dominican Republic and Guatemala ahead of upcoming Concacaf World Cup Qualifying action in March.

Quiñones, 17, signed his first professional contract with Revolution II on November 30 after seeing extensive action during the team's inaugural USL League One season in 2020. In August, he became the first active Revolution Academy player to feature in a professional match, appearing in 14 games with 13 starts. The outside back recorded one assist and nine blocked shots, second most on the team. Quiñones is the third Revolution Academy product to sign with Revolution II.

The Bedford, N.H. native, whose Puerto Rican heritage hails from his father's side of the family, joined the Revolution Academy ahead of the 2017-18 season and made over 65 appearances in the youth ranks. He scored four goals while playing various positions including midfielder and fullback. Additionally, Quiñones was one of the first four members of the Revolution Academy's residency program that began in 2019.

Quiñones is one of 28 players to be named to Puerto Rico's roster for the January training camp and friendlies. The team will convene the second week of January in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, where it will stay for 10 days before traveling to Guatemala. Puerto Rico will play one friendly against the Dominican Republic, with two scheduled against Guatemala. In March 2021, Puerto Rico will compete in Concacaf qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA Men's World Cup in Qatar, playing in Group F along with Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Guyana and the Bahamas.
