Reggie Cannon Called into National Team Duty
October 31, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - FC Dallas News Release
Frisco, Texas - FC Dallas defender Reggie Cannon has been called up by United States Men's National Team head coach Gregg Berhalter to a pre-camp from November 2-9 in preparation of the Concacaf National League Group A matches against Canada and Cuba during the FIFA international break running from November 11-19.
Cannon will join 19 other MLS players who have already completed their seasons at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The formal camp will open on November 10 and will include the full USMNT roster with European-based players.
Cannon, 21, scored one goal and recorded one assist in 28 appearances for FC Dallas this season. Cannon scored his first career playoff goal in the 39th minute of the Audi 2019 playoff match against Seattle Sounders FC on October 19 at CenturyLink Field, starting Dallas' comeback in regulation before falling to Seattle, 4-3, in extra time. He has nine caps for the Stars and Stripes after making his international debut in a friendly against Peru on October 16, 2018.
The U.S. will play Canada on November 15 (6 p.m. CT; ESPN2, UniMás, TUDN) at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida and Cuba on November 19 (6:30 p.m. CT; FS1, UniMás, TUDN) at Truman Bodden Sports Complex in George Town, Cayman Islands. The U.S. defeated Cuba 7-0 on October 11 and are looking for a win after falling to Canada on October 15. Both matches are must-win situations to have a chance to advance to the knockout round.
The Concacaf Nations League will impact qualification for Concacaf Gold Cup and the FIFA rankings, a major component of FIFA World Cup qualifying.
