RedHawks Open 2012 Season Tonight
April 5, 2012 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Oklahoma City Baseball Club News Release
Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Oklahoma City RedHawks open the 2012 Pacific Coast League season at Newcastle Field at Bricktown tonight at 7:05 p.m. against the Memphis Redbirds in front of what is expected to be a sellout crowd.
Emma Youngblood, a 17-year-old from Norman, Oklahoma, has been named the winner of The Oklahoman/Oklahoma City RedHawks National Anthem Auditions and will perform The Star-Spangled Banner before the first pitch.
The Tinker Air Force Base Honor Guard will present the colors, and following the National Anthem, a flyover will feature an E-3 Sentry from the 552 Air Control Wing at Tinker Air Force Base.
In the third inning, the first INTEGRIS Home Run for Life of the 2012 season will feature Nichole Hudon. A dietician and mother of two, Hudon had trouble concentrating and focusing and had trouble staying awake in almost any activity. The problems continued until Hudon fell asleep behind the wheel in a construction zone and caused damage to her car. The results could have been deadly.
Hudon then saw Dr. Jonathan Schwartz, a sleep specialist at the INTEGRIS Sleep Disorders Center, who diagnosed Hudon with Narcolepsy, a condition causing daytime sleepiness and sleep attacks. After reviewing her sleep study results, Dr. Schwartz prescribed a life-changing medication to improve alertness. Hudon and her family will be in attendance on Thursday night as she completes her Home Run for Life. Hudon will be available to media following the event.
RedHawks Opening Night ticket prices are $5 for outfield lawn, $9 for third base terrace, $11 for bleachers and $17 for field seats. In addition, Thursday night is the first of only six Taco Bell Friends and Family Nights of the 2012 season, featuring $31 of value for $7.25 per person in groups of 10 or more.
Opening Night tickets are still available through Ticketmaster, or through the RedHawks Ticket Office at 405-218-1000. For more information, visit okcredhawks.com.
