Ottawa RedBlacks News Release

OTTAWA, ON - The Ottawa REDBLACKS will host 150 youth football coaches at TD Place on Saturday for the first in a series of coaching clinics put on by the OSEG Foundation.

Media are invited to come capture photo and video of the clinic from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Please RSVP to Chris Hofley (chofley@oseg.ca) if you plan to attend.

The sold-out event is designed to give youth football coaches the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques that will help them to improve football programs. Coaches will be exposed to strategies from all aspects of the game including practice organizations, drills for offensive/defensive and special teams.

"Here in our community we have a network of hundreds of volunteer football coaches who are working with young athletes to teach them the fundamentals of the game," says Janice Barresi, OSEG Foundation Executive Director. "The Coaching Clinics are a way of providing additional resources to those volunteer coaches, in an effort to help expand minor football in our region."

During the day-long clinic the coaches will learn from REDBLACKS Head Coach Rick Campbell and his coaching staff and take that knowledge back to their communities to help enrich minor sports programs in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.

"The Ottawa REDBLACKS are deeply committed to investing in our young athletes and growing the sport of football," explains Ottawa REDBLACKS Head Coach Rick Campbell. "Over the last three years we've contributed over $350,000 to minor football programs in our region region so that more children and youth have the opportunity to benefit from the power of sport."
